I’ve been climbing for over 15 years, and as an engineer, I became interested in methods to maximize training gains with minimum time investment and without getting injured.

I started StrengthClimbing in early 2019. The idea was to create a website with detailed descriptions and analysis of the popular climbing training methods. I ended up reading through hundreds of articles and listening to hours of climbing podcasts in the hope of understanding the exact science behind training for climbing. I soon realized that the current state of rock climbing knowledge is only fragmentary compared with older sport disciplines like weightlifting, running, or swimming.

After publishing a series of articles on hangboard training, I started receiving questions from climbers and professional coaches from all over the world, asking me for help and advice.

I performed a vast number of climbing assessments of athletes from the 5.11a – 5.14d range, which allowed me to build my own results database and establish clear benchmarks for finger strength, finger endurance, and upper body strength.

I then decided to develop my own training system based on my experience and cutting edge climbing and sports knowledge. Since then, I’ve had the opportunity to design training programs for over a dozen strong rock climbers who trusted me with their training, ensuring that the system is safe, effective, and fun!
