The Location Head Coach is the face of Team Gravity Vault for their respective location. The Location Head Coach is responsible for creating a positive, motivating and healthy environment where Team Gravity Vault members can grow as climbers and as individuals. As a mentor and role model for both team members and assistant coaches, the Location Head Coach should lead by example and consistently embody the values and mission of The Gravity Vault. This position reports to the Location Manager and consults with the Brand Head Coach and General Manager.
Role/Responsibilities:
- Lead weekly Advanced and Competitive Team practices
- Schedule: Mon: 6:00pm – 8:00pm, Tues/Thus: 4:30pm – 8:00pm
- Communicate with location team coaches and assist with Intermediate Team practices and curriculum when needed
- Schedule: Sat: 9:00am – 11:00am
- Create practice curriculum aimed to improve climbing technique, physical and mental strength, teamwork, and competition skills
- Attend both local and championship level competitions on scheduled weekends. May require extended domestic travel
- Administer team tryouts and be responsible for onboarding/offboarding team members
- Facilitate team promotions throughout the facility’s youth programs
- Coordinate with management to maintain accurate billing of dues
- Maintain communication with parents via an @gravityvault.com address regarding progress of their climbers, competition schedules, and other team related events
- Facilitate championship prep camps
- Facilitate team summer camps and outdoor climbing trips where applicable
Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years experience bouldering and sport climbing
- Experience training athletes in all disciplines of climbing at a high level of competition
- A high level of understanding of advanced climbing movement and techniques
- USAC Coaching Level 2 Certification: See USAC web page for requirements
- Ability to communicate effectively with management, young athletes and parents
Preferred Experience:
- Ability to climb V6+ or 5.12+ and/or train climbers at these levels
- Group Fitness or Personal Training Certification (ACE, AFAA, NASM, or equivalent)
- Route setting experience
Compensation:
- Hourly, Part-time, Starting at $20 per hour
- USAC Level 2 Coaching Certification Fee
