Dr. von Schroeder is a Hand and Wrist Surgeon at The University of Toronto Hand Program, and the Medical Director at Hand Specialty Clinic at Altum Health at Toronto Western Hospital. He is also Associate Professor at U of Toronto.
He obtained his medical training at the University of British Columbia (Vancouver), his Orthopaedic training at U of T, and his Hand fellowships at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre (Toronto) and the Kleinert Institute (Louisville, KY). He has also completed two research fellowships (University of California San Diego and U of T). He holds a Certificate for Added Qualification in Hand Surgery from the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
Dr. von Schroeder’s subspecialty interests include trauma and arthritis of the wrist. His research interests include the biology of scaphoid fracture non-unions. His lab is at the Faculty of Dentistry, U of T where he is cross-appointed. He holds two US Patents and has 6 patent applications and >70 publications relating to his clinical and scientific research.
He is on the Board of the American Association for Hand Surgery and Consultant Surgeon for the National Hockey League.
He is an enthusiastic rock climber and cares for countless patients with hand and wrist climbing injuries.
