Contact Climbing Gym is looking for an experienced route setter to join our team!
Located in Southern Utah, our gym is surrounded by world-class outdoor climbing, with incredible bouldering and sport climbing just a short drive away. We’re looking for a setter who wants to be part of a great climbing community both inside and outside the gym.
We believe the best setting teams are built around collaboration, creativity, and shared standards. We want someone who enjoys creating interesting movement and climbs that people genuinely want to get on.
POSITION
- Part-time — 16 hours/week
- Monday & Wednesday — 8-hour setting days
- $18–$22/hour, depending on experience
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- Previous commercial route-setting experience is a must
- Able to climb V6 and 5.12
- Strong understanding of climbing movement and technique
- Ability to set a variety of styles and grades
- Comfortable working at height and using setting tools
- Reliable and able to consistently commit to the Monday/Wednesday schedule
- Able to give and receive constructive feedback
- Work well independently and as part of a setting team
OUR HIRING PROCESS
We like to get to know our setters in the environment where they’ll actually be working. After an initial conversation, qualified candidates will have the opportunity to set alongside our team during a paid setting session. This gives both you and our team a chance to see how we work together, share feedback, and determine whether we’re a good fit for each other before moving forward.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Set and maintain routes and boulder problems across a range of grades
- Forerun, evaluate, and adjust climbs for quality and safety
- Strip, clean, organize, and maintain holds and volumes
- Collaborate with the setting team on style, grading, and overall wall quality
- Help create climbing that is fun, challenging, and engaging for our members
