Klettermarathon 2025
The Klettermarathon is a popular sports competition in Germany in which teams of two collect as many climbing meters as possible. The event has been around in Germany since 2013 and is organized by iClimb – Service for Climbing Gyms. Around 450 participants in 17 different gyms took part in the climbing marathon last year. In 2025, the Klettermarathon 2025 will be held across Europe for the first time. Climbing halls in the European Union have the opportunity to register for the competition until 31. January 2025.
Concept
The Klettermarathon 2025 is a live competition. At the same time, teams of two will compete on Sunday, 27. April 2025. The teams collect as many climbing meters in 2×3 hours as possible. Gyms from all over the European Union can participate. Gyms can ask for an info sheet or visit www.klettermarathon.de for more informations.
Team Score
At the Klettermarathon 2025, the teams will compete against each other in 3 starting classes (W/M/D – W/W – M/M) within their own climbing gym. Any route that is climbed without rope loading will be counted. There is no distinction between toprope, lead, and following. Even Autobelays are allowed. The difficulty of routes doesn’t matter. Each route may only be climbed once per halftime.
Gym Score
All teams from a climbing gym fight together against the other gyms for the Klettermarathon challenge cup. The gym ranking is measured in climbing meters per participant.
Evaluation
The evaluation takes place live and can be followed via scoreboard and screens in the climbing gyms. The participants enter the routes they have climbed using their smartphone and the ranking of the teams and the halls changes live.
Organization
The Klettermarathon 2025 is organized centrally by iClimb – Service for Climbing Gyms. All information and documents are offered in English and German. The participating climbing gyms will receive the following service:
