Griptonite launches Spray, a video analysis toolbox. The feature sits inside its existing app and works by allowing the user to select one of several overlay toolboxes addressing the core movement components of climbing:
- Balance and stability
- Dynamic movement and momentum
- Body shape and positioning
- Timing and pacing
In each toolbox, the user can turn various overlays on and off to visually emphasize what is going on.
Videos do not need to be taken on a tripod and can be uploaded directly from a phone. There is a compare feature that allows users to overlay videos, shadow-climber style, or compare them side by side.
The feature is not aimed at answering the question, “Why did the climber succeed or fail?” Instead, it visually communicates core movement fundamentals that can accelerate progression and be transferred between climbs.
The feature is free for all gym staff and is a paid add-on, at $4/month, for users. Learn more about Griptonite and Spray here.
