June 18, 2026 — Kilter Board and The Global Climbing Initiative are excited to announce the launch of their first application cycle for the Global Community Boards Program.
The program exists to expand access to climbing by connecting communities with Kilter Boards to strengthen local leadership, support youth development, build climbing skills, and create new pathways into outdoor climbing.
Last year, they partnered with Climb Malawi to install their first pilot Global Community Board in Lilongwe, Malawi. The board now serves as a resource for climbers to develop technique, routesetting skills, and community programming.

This cycle, Kilter Board and The Global Climbing Initiative are welcoming applications from Indigenous, Native American, or Tribal communities or organizations in the United States. Due to transportation restrictions, the partner selected for this board must be located in the contiguous United States.
They are seeking applicants with:
- A clear vision for serving youth through climbing
- Existing or developing connections to climbing
- A realistic plan for board installation and supervision
- Community support and local leadership
- A commitment to keeping the board freely accessible to the community it is intended to serve
Timeline
- Applications open: June 17
- Applications close: July 31
- Application notifications sent by: August 21
