December 5, 2025 — EDELRID, a global leader in climbing and outdoor equipment, is proud to announce the newest addition to its North America athlete team: Ethan Morf. A rising force in the climbing world, Ethan is known not only for his impressive ascents but also for his deep commitment to protecting the places we climb.

At just 20 years old, Ethan made history as the youngest person to free Freerider (13a) on El Capitan in a single day, a milestone that solidified his place among the sport’s elite. His climbing résumé includes bold big wall ascents such as El Gavilan (5.13a), Los Nagules (5.13b), and Manchu Wok (5.12d), along with redpointing 5.13R trad routes and 5.14a sport climbs. Ambitious and driven, Ethan continues to set high goals that push both his personal limits and the progression of modern climbing.

When asked what inspired his partnership with EDELRID, Ethan shared:

“I chose EDELRID because I truly believe in them. We live in a time when most companies will cut corners to save an extra buck, but EDELRID is different. They’re the only hardgoods and gear company making a real effort to be as responsible as possible, while still producing some of the best gear on the market.

I’m also endlessly inspired by the rest of the team, many of them are my heroes and close friends. It’s more than just a company; it feels like I am a part of a family, and I am incredibly gracious for that.”

Outside of climbing, Ethan brings his creative vision to life through photography and videography, using his art to connect with and inspire the next generation of climbers. His values align closely with EDELRID’s ongoing mission to lead the industry in environmental responsibility, innovation, and community engagement.

“Ethan represents the future of climbing, bold, creative, and deeply committed to the environment,” said Blair Williams, President of EDELRID North America. “We’re proud to support his journey and welcome him to the EDELRID family. His vision and energy align perfectly with our mission to push boundaries in product innovation while taking responsibility for the world around us.”

Together, EDELRID and Ethan aim to motivate climbers everywhere to dream bigger, climb harder, and care more deeply for the environment.

Founded in 1863, EDELRID has a rich legacy as one of the most storied climbing companies in history. From pioneering the climbing harness and dynamic climbing rope to introducing eco-friendly practices, EDELRID continues to set standards for innovation and environmental responsibility. Welcoming Ethan Morf to the team reinforces EDELRID’s commitment to both climbing excellence and green manufacturing, a partnership that resonates with climbers and outdoor enthusiasts alike.
