How Can We Prevent Sexual Abuse in our Climbing Community?
Education is the most fundamental step any organization can take in preventing sexual abuse from occurring in their climbing communities. Climbing gyms are especially susceptible to sexual assault, and it is critical to educate climbing gym staff, coaches, and members how to recognize and prevent sexual abuse.
We host education events at climbing gyms, local crags, national parks, and retail stores to train staff on the warning signs of abuse, help organizations develop operating procedures to prevent and deal with incidents, and support victims with tools they need to overcome abuse.
