About the Role
We are looking for a Route Setter & Youth Competitive climbing coach to support both the route setting program and the youth competitive program at Grip it Climbing
This role is designed for a skilled Coach and Routesetter who brings both advanced route setting ability and has experience working with youth and competitive athletes.

- Thursday: 8:00-4:00, Boulder Set, Nelson Location
- Friday: 8:00-4:00, Boulder Set, Nelson Location
Competitive Team Coach
As the competitive team coach, you will work alongside the coaching staff to foster a positive learning environment, and develop and deliver quality climbing practice for youth performance athletes. In addition, you will be responsible for the oversight of the youth program as a whole, and the management of all classes offered through our gyms.
Job Details
- Schedule: Part-time (up to 12 hours/week).
- Monday: 4-8:30, Caswell Location
- Wednesday: 4-8:30, Caswell Location
- Collaboration, office hours, and Prep time: up to 3 hours per week for curriculum development, collaboration with your coaching team, and preparing/cleaning up Competitive team Lessons.
- Competition Travel: You would be expected to travel to Alberta throughout the year to coach the youth competitive circuit. Gas and Accomodation expenses would be covered by the Gym, and your hours would be adjusted accordingly to compensate for the time you work over those weekends.
Qualifications
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Rope system knowledge and rope wall setting experience.
- Lead Climbing certification and comfort taking/catching falls.
- Preferred: 2+ years of commercial setting experience.
- Skill Level: Minimum V7 / 5.12 forerunning ability.
- experience working with youth climbers and coaching structured programs
- Knowledge and experience in creating and teaching Comp-style movements.
- Experience coaching or competing in boulder and lead competitions
- Strong understanding of movement progression and skill development for climbers
- Ability to collaborate with Fellow coaches and routesetters in a team environment
Compensation & Benefits
- This is a Salaried, full time position
- Wage: starting at 19.00/ hour, based on experience
- 3 Weeks Paid vacation, health spending account, and statutory holidays in accordance with Saskatchewan standards
