Assistant Gym Manager
Greater Heights Climbing Gym is looking for a versatile, community-focused leader, to step into the role of Assistant Gym Manager (AGM). This role primarily acts as a hybrid position, where you will be expected to wear many hats, including but not limited to front line operational leader to initiating, and carrying out strategic complicated marketing strategies, acting as the liaison between the gym’s operational vision and customers.
The Role at a Glance
As the AGM, you will report directly to the General Manager and share responsibility for the gym’s daily operations. You will balance daily operation duties (front desk management, operations, cleaning, and communications) with high-impact community projects (marketing (social media and marketing campaigns), event planning, website design, and community partner development.
This is a growing role, giving you the opportunity to put your stamp on its development and direction. There will be space for self prescribed project development and creation.

- Maintain open communication with the Greater Heights leadership team.

- Foster a positive environment that encourages community and camaraderie among climbers of all skill levels.
- Collaborate with team members to support gym operations and special events.
- Contribute ideas and feedback to help shape the gym’s programs and services as we grow.
- Actively promote safe climbing, belaying and gym practices. Responding to any safety concerns as soon as they arise.
- Must have weekend and weekday/night availability.
- Own all community outreach in the form of social media management, marketing campaigns. Collaborate with General Manager when necessary.
General Responsibilities:
- Greet and welcome all visitors with a warm and friendly demeanor.
- Manage check-ins, memberships, class registrations, and product purchases efficiently and accurately.
- Provide exceptional customer service by addressing inquiries, helping, and ensuring a positive experience for all guests.
- Maintain a clean and organized facility.
- Perform regular janitorial duties around the gym focused on cleanliness and organization.
- Supervise the climbing floor and be vigilant for any safety concerns.
- Aid in implementing and enforcing facility rules.
- Support parties and other events.
- Perform orientations and proctor top rope and lead climbing tests.
- Assist in evacuation, first aid, or other emergency situations.
- Maintain a level of flexibility and adaptability on a daily basis. Responsibilities may temporarily change based on the needs of the business.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Community Engagement and Outreach
- Support senior management in developing and maintaining strong relationships with community stakeholders.
- Represent the gym at local events, meetings, and forums to promote visibility and brand presence.
- Coordinate outreach efforts to encourage a deeper connection with the surrounding community (i.e. all media and marketing platforms)
- Strategic Partnerships and Collaboration
- Identify and engage with local businesses, schools, organizations, and nonprofits to build partnerships that support mutual growth.
- Foster ongoing communication with current and future partners to explore opportunities for collaboration, such as joint events or shared promotions.
- Work with the General Manager to initiate promotional programs and community campaigns.
- Marketing Support
- Development and execution of marketing initiatives, including social media campaigns, print materials, and in-gym promotions.
- Help plan and promote events, program launches, and membership drives aimed at increasing traffic and engagement.
- Collect and relay member feedback to refine messaging and improve future campaigns.
- Capture high-quality imagery for marketing use, utilizing Adobe Lightroom for editing.
- Community-Focused Project Management
- Plan and execute low-budget, high-impact events that create added value for members and foster a sense of belonging (e.g., movie nights, climbing meetups, skill shares, etc.).
- Coordinate all aspects of event logistics: scheduling, budgeting, promotion, and day-of execution.
- Ensure events align with gym values and are inclusive, welcoming, and engaging for all membership tiers.
- Track participation and gather feedback to improve future programming.
- Revenue-Linked Value Creation
- Collaborate with senior management on initiatives that strengthen retention, increase member satisfaction, and generate long-term value.
- Assist in identifying additional low-cost offerings or services that deepen engagement or support member wellness and goals.
- Work on small-scale, scalable initiatives that connect community-building with business performance (e.g., referral incentives tied to events).
- Team Support and Internal Communication
- Serve as a bridge between senior leadership and staff, helping to maintain clear communication and alignment.
- Support onboarding, mentoring, or training of new team members as needed.
- Help maintain a positive and collaborative internal culture.
- Flexibility and Initiative
- Be responsive and proactive in taking on additional duties or projects as directed by senior leadership.
- Bring forward new ideas for improving the member experience, boosting community participation, or enhancing operational efficiency.
- Demonstrate adaptability in a dynamic environment, helping the gym respond to emerging needs and opportunities.
Qualifications:

- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive attitude.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Active climbing enthusiasts are preferred but not required; we value soft skills and a positive attitude above all.
- 1+ years experience in a leadership role in the climbing industry.
- 3-5 years of experience with social media, and email marketing.
- Familiarity with creating posters and promotional material using Canva or similar platform.
