Salt Lake City, UT – The Front Climbing Club (The Front) will host the St. Paddy’s Pump Rope Climbing Competition in their Salt Lake City climbing gym from March 17th, 2023, to March 18th, 2023, sponsored by Vertical Solutions and Proxy Climbing, in conjunction with the USAC Youth Climbing Competition. The week will kick off with a Youth competition on March 17th, 2023, and continue March 18th with the Citizens comp, finals, and afterparty.

For the 2nd year, The Front is welcoming the cold beginnings of spring with a friendly ro   pe competition that brings local, national, and international climbers together at The Front’s Salt Lake City location. St. Paddy’s Pump is open to top-rope and lead climbers of all experience levels and abilities. Climbers are encouraged to feel festive, dress up for St. Patrick’s Day, and stay after their climb for our social hour, Citizen’s awards, and Finals. Our post-comp social hour is alone, an event you won’t want to miss, featuring themed foods, drinks, bagpiper musical guests, and Irish dancers.

As always, The Front’s climbing competitions are meant to be a fun way to establish camaraderie within the climbing community. Our competitions are the perfect way to share our love for this sport while supporting your fellow climbers. Please note belayers are not provided for this event. We ask that competitors come prepared with their preferred belayer or trade belayers with other competitors. Please ensure belayers have the appropriate certification before the competition, as certification tests will not be offered on the day. Pro and Open Category competitors must compete in the first session to be eligible for our finals round.

About The Front Climbing Club

The Front Climbing Club was the first commercial climbing gym in Salt Lake City. What started as a garage-style co-op in 1989 under the name “The Body Shop” has since evolved into multi-gym, world-class facilities. Built within striking distance of the Wasatch, The Front’s three locations are indoor rock-climbing utopias with bouldering and rope climbing walls, yoga and group fitness spaces, a fully stocked gym, youth programming, and climbing instruction. For more information, please email Colt Jarvis at colt.jarvis@thefrontclimbingclub.com.

About the St. Paddy’s Pump Competition

In 2022, The Front Climbing Club decided to champion competitive climbers off the bouldering wall. Thus began the first St. Paddy’s Pump. This competition was created to bring together hobbyists, new, and seasoned climbers for a day of friendly competition and engagement with the Utah climbing community.
