Memphis, TN — Memphis Rox Climbing + Community, the nonprofit pay-what-you-can climbing gym founded by Tom Shadyac in Soulsville in 2018, is thrilled to join the global celebration of climbing on Global Climbing Day with The North Face.
In honor of Global Climbing Day, Memphis Rox invites climbers of all levels and backgrounds to partake in a day filled with adventure and camaraderie on August 19, 2023. The event will take place from 10am-6pm, showcase 36,000 square feet of state-of-the-art climbing, feature athletes and activities for all ages.
Since its inception, Memphis Rox has been dedicated to breaking down barriers and providing opportunities for the local community to engage in healthy, active lifestyles through rock climbing, clean eating, and outdoor exploration. The gym is committed to fostering inclusivity, making it a safe and supportive space for all individuals, where no one is ever turned away for an inability to pay.
“Global Climbing Day with The North Face is a fantastic occasion for us to celebrate our five-year journey of community engagement,” said Zack Rogers, Executive Director of Memphis Rox. “We welcome everyone to join us for this exciting event, as we come together to experience the joy and empowerment of climbing.”
The celebration will feature inspiring athletes, thrilling climbing activities, food vendors, and a climb-a-thon, where participants aim to collectively reach 50,000 feet in climbing height. This event promises to be a day of adventure, fun, and unity, embracing the spirit of Global Climbing Day worldwide.
