JOB TITLE: Team ABC Lead Coach – All Stars

CLASSIFICATION: Part-Time Hourly

OVERVIEW:

Located in Boulder, Colorado, ABC Kids Climbing is a unique climbing facility for kids and the home of Team ABC.

Fostering foundational climbing experiences for preschoolers, leading developmental climbing experiences for kids, coaching competitive climbing experiences for athletes and guiding outdoor climbing experiences for families.

Sharing unique climbing experiences with kids and families while developing the next generation of youth climbers.

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Team ABC Lead Coaches work closely with the Head Coach of the Exploratory Track and Leadership Team to lead, support, develop and inspire a robust climbing team of ABC youth athletes and a diverse community of ABC children and families. Lead Coaches pro-actively organize, train and support team programs and athletes while fostering a positive and lasting experience for the ABC community of staff, children and families. Lead Coaches demonstrate professionalism and maintain a high coaching standard while contributing to a healthy climbing team and company culture.

We’re seeking an experienced youth climbing coach that exemplifies the principles of adventure

belonging and confidence. Comfortable in an individual and group setting, with both climbers and parents, Team ABC Lead Coaches are committed to delivering a balanced approach to trying hard and having fun. Contributing to an inclusive, productive and enjoyable training environment for youth athletes, the ideal candidate will nurture, support and train young climbers toward camaraderie, performance/goal management, responsible stewardship and a lifelong path of climbing.

The All Stars team Lead Coach will train climbers ages 8 through 11 on a weekly schedule at our facility throughout the year and outdoors seasonally. The All Stars team is a part of the Exploratory Team Track and is all about fostering a love and appreciation of the sport through curiosity and adventure. Gym climbers, competitors, and outdoor climbers are supported in their climbing journey through intentional training plans, skill development, mental tactics, and team camaraderie.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Act as a Leader within Team ABC Coaching staff, modeling top coaching behaviors, skills, and philosophies
Coach Team ABC athlete assessments, practices, private training sessions, training camps, and competitions in accordance with Team ABC coaching philosophies and protocols
Lead and coach Team ABC: All Stars with weekend availability for events
Promote Team ABC standards and procedures in accordance with ABC, PCA, CWA and USAC guidelines
Coordinate with Head Coach and collaborate with co-coaches to optimize, innovate and implement Team ABC program schedules, curriculums, events, training plans and goals
Act as the point of contact and decision maker for respective practices and events, demonstrating adaptability and strong communication
Assist with Team Coach training and mentorship as needed, setting the tone for high quality coaching and positive team culture
Attend and participate in meetings as needed, such as weekly meetings or special project meetings. Attend and participate in occasional coach continued education workshops as scheduled
Administer youth behavioral code of conduct, while administering Team ABC seasonal athlete reviews
Contribute to consistent Team ABC athlete and parent communication
Represent the ABC organization as a responsible steward of youth climbing

QUALIFICATIONS:

Previous coaching and climbing experience
Excellent leadership, communication, collaboration, and technical coaching skills
Flexibility to work weekday evenings and various weekends, events, and Qualifying Event competitions.
Genuine passion, enthusiasm, and high energy for coaching
Ability to coordinate individuals, small groups, and large groups in a practice and competition setting
Ability to convey climbing movement, technique, and coordination along with strategic, physical, and mental processes
Able to provide a welcoming and inclusive space for all races, religious beliefs, sexual orientations and identities
