Job Title: Growth & Marketing Manager
FLSA Status: Exempt
Hours: Full-time, including occasional evenings and weekends for events and community outreach.
Primary Objective: Increase membership and participation by developing strategic marketing initiatives, building community partnerships, and using data-driven decision making to grow the business.
Position Summary
The Growth & Marketing Manager is responsible for driving membership growth, strengthening customer engagement, and expanding Shaker Rocks’ presence throughout the community.
This role develops and executes strategic, data-driven marketing initiatives, builds partnerships that generate new business, and oversees the retail gear shop through thoughtful purchasing and inventory management.
Success is measured by sustainable business growth, strong customer relationships, and effective stewardship of the Shaker Rocks brand.
Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
Membership Growth & Marketing
- Develop and execute marketing strategies that increase memberships, program participation, and customer retention.
- Plan and manage marketing campaigns across digital, print, email, website, and social media platforms.
- Create compelling communications that educate, engage, and inspire current and prospective customers.
- Maintain a consistent and professional Shaker Rocks brand across all channels.
Partnerships & Business Development
- Build and maintain partnerships with schools, businesses, healthcare providers, nonprofits, and community organizations.
- Identify new opportunities for memberships, corporate events, youth programs, and community engagement.
- Represent Shaker Rocks at networking events and community functions.
Analytics & Strategy
- Track key performance metrics including membership growth, lead generation, campaign effectiveness, customer retention, and retail performance.
- Use data and customer insights to improve marketing strategies and support leadership decision-making.
- Prepare regular reports on marketing performance and business growth.
Retail Operations
- Manage retail purchasing, inventory, vendor relationships, and merchandising.
- Maintain accurate inventory levels and maximize profitability through thoughtful product selection and purchasing.
- Monitor retail sales trends and recommend improvements.
Leadership
- Serve as an active member of the leadership team.
- Support special events and major facility initiatives.
- Demonstrate a conscientious work ethic with strong interpersonal skills, sound judgment, and a collaborative spirit to help shape the Shaker Rocks community culture with the Core Values of Shaker Rocks.
Qualifications:
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Work experience in marketing sales, business development or related leadership
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Experience with CRM systems, Webflow, and marketing analytics
- Ability to manage multiple projects independently
Preferred
- 3+ years in marketing, sales, business development, or related leadership
- Experience in fitness, recreation, hospitality, or climbing industry
- Experience managing digital advertising
- Experience with email marketing platforms
- Experience managing retail inventory
- Familiarity with Google Analytics and dashboard reporting
- Climbing experience or willingness to become an active member of the climbing community
Facility Environment and Physical Demands:
- While performing the essential responsibilities of this job, the employee will be regularly required to ascend/descend climbing walls and ladders; sit in a harness; stoop, kneel, and crouch; walk up and down stairs; walk and stand on hard and soft and even and uneven surfaces; use both hands at the same time; reach overhead with arms; grip with hands; talk, yell, and hear; use a computer and other office equipment such as a copier; use equipment and machinery including but not limited to wrenches and drills; use climbing equipment including but not limited to ropes, harnesses, quickdraws, belay devices and carabiners
- The employee will regularly be required to lift and/or carry up to 25 pounds, and occasionally to lift and/or carry between 50 and 100 pounds
- The employee will regularly be exposed to chalk and other airborne particles, water, loud noise, falling objects, and trip hazards
Compensation:
- Starting salary DOE: $49,000 – $65,000/year
