Part 1: Floating Route Setter
Job Summary
The Floating Setter is an experienced professional capable of producing high-quality routes while managing the operational “ins and outs” of the setting department. While primarily following a standard setting routine, this role serves as a knowledgeable resource for the team and may be delegated to specific departmental tasks such as grade spread management, competition setting, and gear maintenance.
Job Details
- Schedule: Part-time (30 hours/week) | Monday, Tuesday, Thursday (8:00 AM – 6:00 PM)
- Boulders: Morning wall stripping; 4–5 boulders per day plus forerunning.
- Rope Days (Short Walls – 30ft): Stripping wall; 3 routes per day plus forerunning.
- Rope Days (Tall Walls – 45–60ft): Stripping wall; 1 route per day plus forerunning.
- Exceptions: Adjustments required for competitions and special events.
Job Requirements
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- High efficiency without sacrificing quality.
- Proven rope wall setting experience.
- Lead Climbing certification and comfort taking/catching falls (“whipping”).
- Preferred: 3+ years of setting experience and competition setting experience.
- Skill Level: Minimum V7 / 5.12 forerunning ability.
- Physical: Ability to lift 50 lbs overhead.
Part 2: Head Adult Team Coach
Job Summary
The Head Adult Team Coach provides expert instruction and leadership for the Adult Bouldering Team. This role is responsible for delivering goal-oriented sessions, developing curriculum, and managing rosters. The Head Coach balances direct instruction with administrative oversight, collaborating with assistant staff to ensure program success.
Job Details
- Schedule: Part-time (10–15 hours/week).
- Required Instruction: 4 hours per week of scheduled in-person bouldering lessons.
- Prep & Admin: 5–6 hours per week for curriculum development, roster management, and communication.
- Collaboration: 1 hour per week for coordination with the Assistant Coach.
- Optional Sessions: Up to 2 hours of Saturday informal instruction/community coaching.
Job Requirements
- Expert Bouldering Knowledge: Ability to deliver high-level technical instruction.
- Curriculum Development: Experience creating structured lesson plans.
- Administrative Proficiency: Experience with roster management and participant outreach.
- Safety Oversight: Strict adherence to facility safety protocols.
- Leadership: Ability to mentor assistant coaching staff.
Pay & Benefits
- Average Combined Hours: 38–40 hours per week.
- Compensation: Starting at $19.00 per hour (more possible with experience).
