USA Climbing is thrilled to announce that Colorado will host the 2022 Yeti Climbing National Championships, November 9-13. The Boulder events will be held November 9-10 at The Spot in Denver while the Lead and Speed events will be held November 11-13 at G1 Climbing + Fitness in Broomfield, Colorado.
This will be the second time that the separate elite championships for Bouldering, Lead and Speed are being combined into one single championship event, crowning six national champions. This event will bring America’s best competition climbers together, including Olympic and National Team members, and provide the first look at the athletes that will make the Paris 2024 Olympic Team.
“USA Climbing is elated to begin 2024 Olympic qualifying in Denver and the metro area,” said USA Climbing CEO, Marc Norman. “The breadth of the Front Range climbing community is unparalleled, as evidenced by native Coloradans and Olympians, Brooke Raboutou and Colin Duffy. Special thanks to The Spot and G1 Climbing + Fitness for bringing the National Championships back to Colorado.”
Given the size of this championship event, the three disciplines will be divided amongst the two host facilities to offer the world class competitors the very best that Colorado has to offer. The preliminary schedule of events can be found Here.
“Words cannot convey our team’s excitement about the privilege of hosting USAC Bouldering Nationals at The Spot once again. We proudly stewarded this event at our original Boulder location for many years, more times than any other U.S. gym”, said Dan Howley, Founder/CEO of The Spot. “It’s fitting and also personally rewarding to now welcome the nation’s top athletes to our new Denver facility. We can’t wait!”
“G1 Climbing + Fitness is excited to partner with USAC for the 2022 Lead & Speed Yeti Nationals”, said G1 owner Jason Haas. “The growth of competitive climbing in the United States has exploded over the last few years. It is a huge privilege to host both the Speed and Lead events this year and we’re looking forward to contributing to the competitive climbing industry.”
USA Climbing is planning to livestream the semi-finals and finals of each discipline on USA Climbing’s YouTube channel and broadcast event highlights on ESPN2. Programming details along with more details regarding the event schedule and hotel block will be shared closer to the event.
