Just a few thoughts
It’s nice to see climbing return to Vail this weekend. With nearly a two decade history, the June bouldering comp in Vail has tracked with the progression of the sport. The first year of the event in 2003 was held on a small bouldering wall in the local athletic club, coupled with a festival popup trailer wall. Now look at it. In the photo above, Alex Johnson flies through the “freestyle dyno” event of 2004. Just a few blocks away in 2008 she won Gold at the first World Cup on US soil since 1990.
