A Family’s Vision Gives Rise to New Southern Gym

Specs: 5,000-square-foot bouldering-focused gym had its grand opening in late February. The facility features bouldering walls and a MoonBoard, as well as a pull-up bar, a hangboard, and an assortment of free weights.

The gym is co-owned by three family members: Carissa, Joseph, and Jackson Scott. Jackson Scott, in particular, attended the nearby University of Alabama for a year and connected with the climbing scene—and eventually developed the idea of opening a climbing gym in the Northport/Tuscaloosa area that could cater to the University of Alabama community.
