YOUTH TEAM COACH
Overview
The Youth Team Coach is responsible for creating a safe, engaging, and development-focused environment for Cultivate Climbing’s youth athletes. Coaches serve as mentors and role models, helping climbers build technical skills, confidence, sportsmanship, and a lifelong passion for climbing while supporting Cultivate’s mission and values.
Core Responsibilities
Athlete Development
- Lead and assist with structured team practices.
- Teach climbing technique, movement, and training appropriate to each athlete’s level.
- Provide constructive feedback while fostering confidence, teamwork, and personal growth.
Safety & Supervision
- Maintain active supervision of athletes throughout practices and team events.
- Enforce facility safety standards and team policies.
- Respond appropriately to incidents and communicate concerns to leadership.
Team Operations
- Arrive prepared for practices and assist with equipment setup and cleanup.
- Help maintain a clean, organized training environment.
- Support competitions, special events, and other youth programming as needed.
Communication & Culture
- Communicate professionally with athletes, parents, and staff.
- Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and encouraging team culture.
- Collaborate with fellow coaches to provide a consistent athlete experience.
Expectations & Performance Indicators
- Deliver safe, organized, and engaging practices.
- Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and positive leadership.
- Build strong relationships with athletes and families.
- Represent Cultivate Climbing with integrity and enthusiasm.
Qualifications
- Previous coaching experience required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with youth in a team environment.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Safesport certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Evening availability required.
- Flexible weekend availability preferred.
