Minneapolis-based Vertical Endeavors has just announced they have secured a lease on a 20,000 square foot building which will house their fifth climbing facility.
According to a company press release the Bloomington location plans to contain 32,000 – 35,000 square feet of Nicros-built climbing surface. The design plan features walls of three heights for top rope and lead climbing. Reaching up to 63 feet in height, this site is predicted to be the tallest Vertical Endeavors location to date. VE Bloomington will include three bouldering areas, event rooms, a fitness area and a complete Pro Shop. Upon completion, Vertical Endeavors – Bloomington will be VE’s fifth Midwest location and stand as the second largest within the brand.
Vertical Endeavors operates the US’s largest climbing facility in Glendale Heights, Illionoies, a suburb of Chicago. Based on total square footage, VE is the nation’s second largest climbing gym developer with 106,150 square feet of climbing. The Bloomington facility will push them even further from the second place developer, Touchstone.
Correction: A previous version of this article incorrectly stated that Vertical Endeavors will have a total of six climbing facilities. We also previously wrote that VE was the nation’s largest gym developer based on square foot of climbing. That was incorrect, VE is the second largest US gym developer.
