USAC Setting has scheduled a Level 2 Clinic to be held at InSpire Rock Gym in Houston, Texas. The clinic will be held July 26th – 28th, 2015 and will be instructed by National Chiefs, John Muse, Chris Danielson and Luke Bertelsen. Qualified routesetters must apply to take part in this clinic and there are limited spots available. Find all the information and apply for the clinic on the USAC Setting website.
Please note – application for Level 2 Clinics is very competitive and the strongest candidates will be those that have the best combination of the following factors for consideration: Level 1 Certification, experience routesetting at Championship Level events, significant Chief Routesetter experience at competitions/gyms, strong references, and those who represent strong USA Climbing partner gyms/regions. We will consider all applications as they are submitted and encourage those to apply who have depth of experience and qualifications. The deadline for applications is 5:00pm; Wednesday, June 10th, 2015.
USAC Setting has also been working on scheduling at least two public Level 1 Clinics for this summer and will soon have locations and dates announced. Registration for these clinics will be confirmed shortly, after which you may register directly on the USAC Setting site.
Join The Board
The USA Climbing Nominating and Governance Committee is seeking two individuals to serve on the USA Climbing Board of Directors. In particular, we welcome the interest of individuals with experience in risk management/insurance and accounting.
The goal of the USA Climbing Board of Directors is to represent the interests of the competition climbing community for USA Climbing in the United States and its athletes by providing USA Climbing with policy, guidance and strategic direction. The Board of Directors shall focus on long-term objectives and impacts rather than on day-to-day management, empowering the Chief Executive Officer to manage a staff-driven organization with Board oversight.
To apply, please send an e-mail to info@usaclimbing.org that includes a letter of interest and your resume or cv. To nominate an individual, please send an email with their name and contact information to info@usaclimbing.org. All applications must be submitted by June 15, 2015.
Join a Committee
After many years on the Routesetting Committee, National Chief Routesetter Mike Helt will complete his current term. The USAC Setting site stated that, “Mike has been invaluable as a member of the Committee and will continue to be actively involved with USA Climbing and the RCCP both with competitions and as a National Instructor.”
The five-member setting committee is now accepting applications to fill Helt’s seat. The volunteer Committee works under the supervision of the USA Climbing Board of Directors. Find more about the Routesetting Committee and current members on the USAC Setting site.
Interested applicants should send application materials via email to the Chair of the Committee, Chris Danielson at cdanielson@gthi.com by June 20th, 2015. Please include a Letter of interest, Professional Resume including general and competition routesetting history, and three references.
The USAC Coaches committee is also accepting applications for vacant seats.
The goal of the USA Climbing coaches’ committee is to educate and organize coaches in order to raise the level of coaching in competition climbing in the United States. The coaches’ committee will organize workshops and symposia and develop educational curriculum to provide coaches meaningful development opportunities. The coaches committee will also interpret and apply coaching related rules and the coaching code of conduct. Committee members will be expected to participate in conference calls (approximately every other month) and one in-person meeting per year, as well as working with the committee to steer and execute a plan to improve USA Climbing coaching at all levels.
To be eligible, coach nominees must have been a USAC Certified Coach in good standing at some point during the previous five years, and may not have had their coaching certification revoked or suspended for any reason. To apply, please send an e-mail to info@usaclimbing.org that includes a letter of interest and your resume or cv. All applications must be submitted by June 15, 2015.
