The Pad Climbing Announces New Gym Coming to Summerlin, NV

Former Regal Theatre will transform into a full-service climbing, fitness, and community hub

Las Vegas, NV – 6/10/2025 – The Pad Climbing, a pioneer in community-driven climbing gyms, is officially expanding to Las Vegas with a new location in Summerlin at 9400 W Sahara Ave—formerly the Regal Theatre. This project is moving forward thanks to the overwhelming support of over 100 local backers who jumped in early as founding members, far exceeding expectations.

“We asked if Las Vegas wanted this—and you shouted back YES. Because of you, we’re doing this together,” says Kristin Horowitz, CEO and co-founder of The Pad. “We’re beyond grateful to bring our signature Pad energy and design to Summerlin.”

🔨 A Climbing Gym That Breaks the Mold

This won’t be just another gym—it’ll be a repurposed movie theater with serious character and a full lineup of climbing, training, and lifestyle features, including:

  • 45′ rope walls (with crack features and creative terrain)
  • 16′ bouldering walls
  • Autobelays
  • Training boards (with input from founding members)
  • Weights and cardio equipment
  • Lounge and vanlife amenities
  • Youth zones and IG-worthy “fun walls”

“It’s smaller than our Henderson spot, but more dialed. More cozy. More vertical. We’re going for thoughtful use of space—not just size for size’s sake,” says Horowitz.

🤝 Built for and by the Community

The Pad is known for its grassroots approach. Its earliest gyms were crowdfunded before that was even a word—and members have historically helped build the very walls they climb. This one is no different: after hosting a webinar townhall – we asked people to commit along with us by reserving their first month’s membership for $100 and a lot of people are STILL coming out of the woodwork to take advantage of that offer. No discounts or perks promised, just that we’ll build a gym or give their money back.

“We don’t build gyms for communities—we build them with them,” Horowitz explains. “That’s what makes Pad gyms special. That’s why we’re asking you to show up again and help shape what comes next.”

⏳ Timeline: Projected Opening Mid–Late 2026

The exact timeline depends on permitting, construction, and—of course—community support. The team is fully committed, and progress updates will be communicated transparently.

“We’ll tell you what we know when we know it. No games here,” says Horowitz. “If we say a date and miss it, people freak. So just know: it’s coming, and it’s coming soon.”

📍 Why Not Henderson?

The team spent years trying to make a Henderson location work but determined the market and layout weren’t the right fit. “We know some folks are bummed, but we’re excited about what Summerlin brings—and we think you will be too,” says Horowitz. “I spent a lot of my formative climbing years with friends in that specific neighborhood and I just know it’s going to be a wonderful third space for people who live there and a place you have to land when you come to visit for the epic outdoor climbing. I’m hoping to make it something like a Miguel’s meets Crossroads from twenty years ago – you have to stop by.”
