The Cliff’s, which operates a number of full service climbing gyms in New York City announced that it is opening its first gym outside of the state in the fall of 2018. Located in the heart of Philadelphia, the 39,000 square feet building will be The Cliffs’s largest location.

“As we looked to bring our first class climbing experience to other cities, Philadelphia just made sense,” said The Cliffs owner Mike Wolfert in a statement. “The space allows us to bring guests an indoor rock climbing experience unlike any other.”

The Cliff’s run two full-service facilities as well as a bouldering park called DUMBO Boulders. They also have a bouldering gym in development in Harlem. Philly, with its 1.5 million people, has been served by only two climbing gyms: Go Vertical and Philadelphia Rock Gym – East Falls. The Cliff’s will open 1.6 miles from Go Vertical which has 13,500 square feet of climbing and opened in 2000.
