The Cliffs at Harlem
New York City, NY
Specs: 15,000-square-foot facility opened in February and is reportedly the largest bouldering-focused gym in New York City, according to a press release from The Cliffs. In addition to the boulders, the new climbing gym features campus boards, a Tension Board, a MoonBoard, as well as lockers, showers, cardio equipment and a gear shop. Yoga classes and climbing clinics will also be offered, although the press release noted that some classes and programming might initially be restricted due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
The Cliffs at Harlem is located in the Harlem neighborhood of Manhattan, across the street from the famous and historic Apollo Theater. All Harlem residents can visit the gym with a one-time-usage free climbing pass during off-peak hours. The gym is also offering 50 discounted scholarships available to local residents.
There are currently four other The Cliffs Climbing + Fitness locations, including three in New York state and one in Philadelphia. The Cliffs’ planned Gowanus gym in Brooklyn is also forthcoming.
