GENERAL SUMMARY:
Team Edgeworks strives to inspire and challenge youth athletes to compete in a fun and supportive environment. Under mentorship of USAC certified coaching staff, our athletes learn how to develop a healthy work ethic, to compete at the highest levels, and to be lifelong climbers.
Team Coaches are primarily responsible for facilitating team practices with the Head Coach to best prepare competitors for local through national level competitions. The Team Coach will report to the Head Coach of Team Edgeworks to ensure the highest quality experience for the climbing team and the best overall results at competitions.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
GENERAL:
- Demonstrate an inclusive coaching philosophy focused on developing confidence, ability and growth on and off the walls.
- Work in conjunction with fellow coaches to execute developmentally-appropriate training curriculums for Team athletes at all levels, ensuring safety is at the forefront.
- Foster team camaraderie and cultivate a culture of direct communication.
- Implement seasonal training plans, goals, and follow-up for the team as a whole as well as for individual athletes as needed.
- Attend practices and assist with competitions.
- Assist with ongoing communication with team members and parents regarding schedule, expectations, and performance.
QUALIFICATION AND SKILLS:
MUST-HAVES:
- Experienced and proven team contributor.
- Advanced indoor rock climbing knowledge and experience.
- Must be willing to travel out of state for championship level competitions.
- Must be USAC Certified Coach or have the ability to acquire certification before being scheduled for competition.
NICE-TO-HAVES:
- Competitive youth climbing coaching experience.
- Competition climbing experience.
- Routesetting experience.
EMPLOYMENT STATUS & COMPENSATION:
- Part-Time Hourly (Hours may include working competitions on the weekends, projects and/or working before/after regular hours)
- $23.34 to $26.47 per hour depending on experience
