HEAD ROUTESETTER – HIGH POINT CLIMBING AND FITNESS (HUNTSVILLE, AL)
High Point Climbing & Fitness is looking for a creative, organized, and community‑focused Head Routesetter to lead our setting program across our two locations in Huntsville. This is a full‑time leadership role responsible for shaping the climbing experience across our roped and bouldering terrain, guiding a team of setters, and ensuring High Point maintains high-quality, thoughtful, and diverse climbs for all ages and skill levels.

What You’ll Do:
- Lead and manage the routesetting team, including scheduling, training, and mentorship
- Set and forerun boulders and routes across all grades with an emphasis on safety, quality, and consistency
- Develop a dependable setting schedule that supports progression and variety
- Oversee equipment use, maintenance, and inventory
- Collaborate with gym leadership on setting priorities, competitions, and events
- Uphold industry-standard safety practices and ensure setter compliance with High Point’s work at height policies
- Maintain a positive, inclusive, and hardworking culture that reflects High Point’s community values
What We’re Looking For:
- 3+ years of routesetting experience, 1+ year of management experience preferred
- Ability to efficiently forerun 5.12+ and V8
- Ability to set thoughtfully at a wide range of grades on both ropes and boulders
- Experience setting for youth programs and competitions
- Experience training, managing, or mentoring other setters
- Ability to work efficiently in bouldering, top rope, and lead terrain
- Excellent communication skills
- USAC Level 1 or higher setter certification (Level 2 or higher preferred)
