About the Role

The Comp Team Coach will work with elite youth climbers competing at USAC Qualifying Events, Regional, Divisional, and National competitions. This role involves coaching structured practices, helping to create athlete development plans, supporting competition preparation, and building positive, long-term mentor-mentee relationships with athletes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead elite-level bouldering practices
  • Coach bouldering, strength, movement, and competition strategy 
  • Provide technical movement analysis and individualized feedback 
  • Work closely with the Head Coach and other coaches to align programming and athlete development
  • Represent Bouldering Project at USAC competitions as needed
  • Assist in creating a supportive, inclusive, and respectful team environment

Qualifications

Required

  • Previous climbing coaching experience with competitive athletes
  • Strong understanding of climbing movement, training principles, and competition formats
  • Ability to coach athletes with professionalism, positivity, and structure
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Availability Monday, Wednesday, and Friday evenings
  • Availability for select qualifying events and all major championship events

Preferred

  • Experience coaching elite or nationally competitive youth climbers
  • USAC coaching certifications or equivalent experience
  • Background in exercise science, youth development, or sports psychology
  • Experience with strength and conditioning for climbers
  • Competition climbing experience at a high level
