Inner Peaks has three fantastic facilities in Charlotte, North Carolina, offering a broad spectrum of climbing and styles with both boulders and rope walls.
Inner Peaks Matthews has a large community filled with a wide variety of people and experience levels; we boast a large bouldering area with a plethora of terrain and resources making for intricate and thoughtful climbs. The Lead walls soar to a whopping 60 feet leading to long and thoughtful routes.

Job Summary:
The Assistant Head Setter at Inner Peaks Matthews will be an experienced setter who can set excellent quality routes while they handle running the setting team. This should be when the Head Setter needs to be elsewhere. While they will always be expected to be helpful as a knowledgeable resource for the rest of the team, most days will be a regular setting routine where they will have a normal setting assignment. There will be days where they are delegated to handle various details that are setting-related. (Grade Spread Management, Comp Setting, Wall and Gear Maintenance, etc.)

Schedule:
- Full Time
- 4 Days a week
- Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday
- No Setting Wednesdays
- 8am-6pm
- Exceptions: Comps/Events
Boulders:
- Stripping walls in the morning
- 4-5 Boulders per day and forerunning
Rope Days:
- Short walls (26ft): Stripping Wall, 3 Rope Routes per day and forerunning
- Tall Walls (45-60ft): Stripping Wall, 1 Route a day and forerunning
Job Requirements:
- Safety Minded
- Excellent Communication Skills
- Efficient while holding Quality Standards
- Rope Wall Setting Experience
- Lead Certified
- Minimum v7/5.12 forerunning ability
- Minimum able to lift 50lbs overhead
- Preferred Minimum 3 Years Setting Experience
- Preferred Comp Experience
Compensation:
Pay: 42k+, subject to negotiation. Relocation assistance negotiable for qualified candidates.

As a full-time, salaried employee, we recognize that climbing shoes are an essential part of your role and experience significant wear and tear. To support you, we provide a $200 annual reimbursement toward the wholesale unit cost of climbing shoes.
For our full-time route setters, we are also committed to your ongoing growth and expertise. You’ll receive 80 hours of paid professional development time each year, which can be used for opportunities like guest setting at other gyms, attending climbing clinics, or working toward certifications such as Level 1 (L1) and Level 2 (L2) Route Setting.
