One of the largest climbing and bouldering halls in Germany, the Chimpanzodrome in Frechen, burned down to its foundations earlier last month. According to Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger a local news outlet, the dramatic fire started just after midnight and soon engulfed the entire building. The facility was 700 square meters and included an outdoor tower which also burned to the ground.

120 firefighters were on site to battle the blaze.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The resulting property damage is estimated at several 100,000 euros.
