Earth Treks announced they will start construction of their seventh climbing facility and their first bouldering-only gym in Baltimore, Maryland. This new gym will also be Baltimore’s first commercial climbing facility within city limits.
The gym operator is taking over a former Sears distribution center and will share the massive building with eight other businesses including UNION Craft Brewing. Earth Treks will occupy 20,000 square feet of floor space which they will fill with 10,000 square feet of bouldering terrain as well as a yoga studio, functional fitness and cardio zones, training areas, and retail pro-shop.
“Earth Treks has been serving Baltimore area climbers since 1990 and we are thrilled that at long last we’ll be opening our first gym in the city. We’re excited that we’ll be calling Hampden home and look forward to being part of its vibrant community,” said Chris Warner, Earth Treks founder and CEO.
Earth Treks currently operates three other gyms in the DC-Baltimore metro area including their Rockville facility which is rumored to be the busiest gym in the country.
This bouldering facility in the hip neighborhood of Hampden comes on the heels of ET’s recent announcement that they will be opening the US’s largest climbing gym in Englewood, Colorado. Both locations are due to open in 2018.
