This week, the Climbing Wall Association (CWA) announced the cancellation of its 2021 Summit—the organization’s annual conference and trade show—which had been scheduled to take place on May 12-14 in Colorado. This announcement marks the second year in a row the Summit has been cancelled due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic.
An email announcement from CWA about the cancellation stated: “For the past 14 years, we have brought the indoor climbing industry together under one roof by hosting a multi-day, international CWA Summit. Earlier this year, this format became impractical.”
Since the early stages of the pandemic, CWA has regularly held community calls for gym industry professionals, offered guidance to gyms for reopening, and hosted various virtual workshops related to business adaptation amid the pandemic.
The organization’s email about the Summit cancellation also stated that CWA hopes “the time and money you would have invested in the Summit can be used towards rebuilding your business and supporting your employees.”
The CWA expressed a commitment to holding a Summit once again in 2022.
