The popular outdoor climbing park under the Manhattan Bridge, DUMBO Boulders, in New York City temporarly closed May 23rd due to a piece of the bridge falling into the climbing area narrowly missing dozens of climbers, witnesses told DNA Info.

DUMBO Boulders, which is run by The Cliffs of Long Island City decided to close the park while the Department of Transportation investigated the incident. DUMBO Boulders opened last year and at that time a net hung under the bridge but was removed shortly after by DOT’s contractors.
The bouldering park was reopened to the public on May 26th. UPDATE: DNA Info has an update to the type of debris that fell and what the authorities are doing about it.
