Redmond, OR — July 2026 — EDELRID North America is proud to announce Mason Keough as a new grassroots athlete, making him the first para-climber to join the North America athlete team. Keough brings an inspiring mix of competitive achievement, determination, and advocacy for greater accessibility in climbing.
Based in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, Keough has quickly made his mark in para climbing. He is a two-time USA National Champion, a two-time World Cup gold medalist, and the first AU3 climber to send V11 with his ascent of Jaws. His accomplishments reflect not only elite performance, but a commitment to pushing the boundaries of what is possible in the sport.
Keough began climbing during COVID, when he and his older brother started spending time outdoors together. After a workplace accident led to the loss of four fingers on his dominant hand, he returned to climbing with renewed determination and steadily built himself into one of the sport’s most promising para athletes.

For Keough, climbing has always been rooted in trying hard, staying persistent, and believing that even what feels impossible may still be within reach. He is especially motivated by the opportunity to help make climbing more accessible and to inspire others to discover what they are capable of.
“I’m excited to join EDELRID North America because climbing has given me so much, and I want to be part of helping grow the sport in a way that is stronger and more accessible,” said Keough. “My goal is to keep pushing my own limits while encouraging others to do the same.”
