LA28 Reveals Paralympic Competition Schedule

The LA28 Paralympic Games competition schedule has officially been released, marking another major milestone for Para Climbing ahead of its historic Paralympic debut in 2028.

Para Climbing will take place from August 24–27, 2028 at the Long Beach Climbing Theater in Long Beach, California. Across four days of competition, the world’s top Para Climbers will compete for Paralympic medals on the sport’s biggest stage for the very first time.

The LA28 Paralympic Games will feature eight medal events across men’s and women’s sport classes:

  • Men’s B1
  • Men’s RP1
  • Men’s AU2
  • Men’s AL2
  • Women’s B2
  • Women’s RP1
  • Women’s AU2
  • Women’s AL2

The current Para Climbing competition schedule is as follows (all times PT):

Thursday, August 24 — Qualification Rounds

Qualifications Session 1

9:15 a.m. – 12:10 p.m.
Men’s AU2 Qualification
Men’s B1 Qualification
Women’s RP1 Qualification

Qualifications Session 2

6:00 p.m. – 8:55 p.m.
Women’s AL2 Lead Qualification
Men’s RP1 Qualification
Women’s B2 Lead Qualification

 

Friday, August 25 — Medal Finals

Finals Session 1

9:15 a.m. – 12:10 p.m.
Men’s AL2 Qualification
Men’s B1 Final
Women’s RP1 Final

Finals Session 2

6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Women’s AU2 Qualification
Men’s AU2 Final

Saturday, August 26 — Medal Finals

All events and sessions remain subject to change leading up to and throughout the LA28 Paralympic Games.

Since being announced for inclusion in the Paralympic program, Para Climbing has continued to see rapid international growth, with athletes pushing the limits of performance and bringing communities together around the world through competition.

The release of the official competition schedule brings athletes, coaches, and fans one step closer to experiencing the sport’s Paralympic debut and celebrating a historic moment for climbing.
