As GM of Crux Houston, this position will oversee all the front desk team, facilities lead, yoga & fitness manager, programs manager that includes climbing classes and youth programs. This is a position for Crux Climbing Center’s fourth and newest location.

Team Leadership & Supervision
- Supervise all front-of-house (FOH) employees with HM Assistant, including 90-day check-ins, 6-month reviews, and any required disciplinary actions.
- Coordinate with the HMA and ERM on discipline-related meetings and follow-ups.
- Support and collaborate with other managers and departments to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Oversee part-time managers (Yoga & Fitness Manager, Facilities Manager) after 6 months in role.
- Oversee full-time manager – Programs Manager – after 6 months in role. Guide manager with decisions for birthday parties, large group bookings, summer camps, recreational youth teams, youth competitive teams, and climbing classes.
- Oversee HMA and their role:
- Maintain the incident reporting process: finalize paperwork, follow up with injured parties, and report high-risk incidents to Crux’s insurance.
- Audit the cash drawer weekly.
- Review and monitor supply request logs, facility request logs, and end-of-shift reports weekly.
- Ensure general organization and cleanliness of all front-desk areas

- Ordering front desk marketing materials (punch passes, gift cards, general info brochures, enamel pins)

- Assist with competition preparation, staffing, and blackout vacation dates once schedules are set.
- Help prioritize customer-facing needs and ensure a high standard of service.
Staffing, Hiring & Training
- Manage with HMA weekly FOH scheduling, including vacation requests, holidays, high-traffic days, Crux calendar checks, SL meetings, and FOH meetings.
- Handle FOH payroll with ERM and Accounting
- Work with the ERM and HMA on candidate selection, interview scheduling, and onboarding paperwork.
- Train new Shift Leads.
- Keep all training documents and manuals up to date (e.g., WIW manual, host training, SL training).
- Oversee SL tasks (in partnership with the HMA) and support ongoing SL development.
Meetings & Communication
- Attend weekly HM/Regional Director meetings and bi-annual all-staff meetings.
- Hold weekly or bi-weekly check-ins with your team

- Programs – weekly to bi-weekly
Budgeting & Financial Management
- Manage the FOH budget, including staff pay, uniforms, training fees/certifications, and employee appreciation/outings.
In-Person Expectations & Time Off
- Maintain a strong in-person presence (approx. 80%), serving as the face of the gym and a visible support to staff and members.
- Remote work is permitted for some tasks but should not exceed 20% of working time.

- Salary Compensation $50,000-$65,000
Requirements
- 3-5+ Years experience as a manager, ideally in fitness, recreation, hospitality or membership-based industries
- At least 1 year working in a climbing facility
- 3+ years of climbing experience; enthusiasm for the climbing community.
- Ability to manage large teams and multiple departments
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Commitment to safety, education, and the customer experience
- Proficient in When I Work, Google Workspace, POS systems (RGP or Approach preferred).
- Ability to work flexible hours including some evenings and weekends as needed for events
- Preference for those that have visited a Crux facility or been a member
