    Job Description

    The Marketing Manager is a dynamic and experienced professional who plays an integral part of the Whetstone leadership team. This role requires a strategic, strong leader to drive the development and execution of innovative marketing strategies, as well as work cross functionally to understand marketing needs, act as a company brand ambassador, and drive revenue growth through successful marketing campaigns.

    Qualifications

    • Proven experience in a marketing role, preferably in the climbing or fitness industry
    • Strong critical thinking, problem solving and data analytical skills
    • Strong communication, leadership and interpersonal skills
    • Experience with marketing tools like the Meta Ads Manager and Google Analytics
    • Previous experience with social media, email marketing, content management systems, print and other appropriate media
    • Knowledge of design software (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere or After Effects)
    • Strong project management skills
    • Ability to pivot quickly and stay on top of shifting priorities and deadlines
    • Bachelor’s degree in marketing or a related field
    • Significant experience with MS Office suite, especially Excel and Outlook

    Responsibilities

    • Develop and execute innovative marketing strategies that drive revenue, membership growth, member retention, youth programs and event participation
    • Oversee all digital marketing, including website management, social media, and email database
    • Serve as the primary steward of Whetstone’s brand, ensuring a consistent and seamless user experience across all channels
    • Participate in strategic planning sessions with the leadership team to align marketing initiatives with broader company objectives
    • Plan, set and monitor an annual budget and calendar for marketing campaigns
    • Establish and track marketing relevant Key Performance Indicators, reviewing results and implementing corrective actions as needed
    • Act as a liaison between the marketing team and other departments to understand marketing needs
    • Analyze campaign results to determine effectiveness and strategies of future campaigns
    • Support and maintain the internal marketing process including briefing, feedback, analysis, and reporting
    • Manage in-house creative specialist to ensure deliverables are accurate and distributed on time
    • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide coaching to enhance the team
    • Keep a pulse on market research and trends to inform marketing strategies and gym operations
    • Manage website to ensure info is current and tone is consistent with Whetstone’s brand/voice

    Hours & Compensation

    • Part time, non-exempt, hourly position – 20-30 hours per week
    • $21.00 – $25.00 per hour (commensurate with experience and reference checks)
    • Potential for partially remote position for the right candidate
