    Job Title: Part-Time Head Routesetter

    Expected Time Requirement: 15 to 20 hours per week

    Compensation: $20 to $25 per hour depending on experience

    Location: College Station, TX area

     

     

    The Part-Time Head Routesetter will be a critical leader at Stone Co., and ensure the setting, team, and equipment remain strong at Stone Co. This person will be a leader at the gym, and must exemplify the Stone Co. values of Courage, Responsibility, Others, and Proactivity.

     

    Roles & Responsibilities

    Leadership & Growth:

    Maintain a strong read on the heartbeat of the local climbing community, and alter, grow, or change setting as needed. Set quarterly goals to build and grow setting, such as clinics, guest setters, hold/volume goals, setter and apprentice development, and long-term goals for Stone Co.’s growth in this area. Bring fresh ideas to grow climbers’ love of the sport, such as challenges, differing highlighted sets (e.g. comp sets, dynos, cracks, etc.). Build an incredible team that is immensely talented and excitingly united.

     

    Routesetting Methodology, Quality, and Consistency:

    Review and uphold the Stone Co. methodology, or adjust this with CEO approval if needed. Oversee the team, guest setters, and everything that might impact the setting quality. Ensure weekly setting, and efficient output of setters. Plan ahead for events, holidays, or any other timeline items which might impact setting. Instill values of creating equal/equitable products for climbers of all ages and sizes to climb. Maintain grading culture within the gym. Ensure safety protocols are followed for every set.

     

    Equipment & Maintenance:

    Keep an eye on the quality, life, and health of setting equipment, including drills, bolts, screws, holds, volumes, ladders, and even the walls and pads. Perform checks along the way and alert the CEO if attention, fixes, or purchases are needed. See to it that climbing walls and holds are cleaned each week to Stone Co’s standards.

     

    Tracking & Plastick Management:

    Ensure each problem on Plastick has a set location. Publish problems to KAYA for members to record their climbs. Meet with the CEO each week to review weekly snapshots, including items completed and upcoming, as well as to communicate any risks, issues, or decisions needed.

     

    Management and Asana Assignments:

    Notify setters regarding assignments that they may be given during the week to accomplish prior to a setting day. Give out assignments such as:

    Sort Bolts and Screws
    Wash and sort holds

     

    Recruit, interview, hire, and manage a strong crew of passionate setters that love route setting. Delegate as many tasks as possible to this team, and ensure efficiency and quality of their work. Maintain a healthy and open platform for setters to provide any type of feedback for the entirety of the gym. Keep a good set of available setters on each setting day. Ensure that setters are performing their weekly tasks prior to a setting day. Overall ensure an excellent culture amongst the setting team and help them grow immensely in their skills.

    Alongside these main responsibilities, other goals may be brought onto your role through upper management.

     

     

    Experience, Skills, and Qualifications

    At least 2 Years of commercial setting experience
    USA Climbing Level 2 or higher certification preferred
    Ability to set and forerun at minimum V6 boulders
    Great written and oral communication skills
    Ability to track and document details
    Balance of creative / communicator and task-master (“art and science”)

    Job Title: Part-Time Setting Director

    Expected Time Requirement: 8 to 10 hours per week

    Compensation: $20 to $25 per hour

    Location: within a day-trip drive to College Station, TX (one on-site day per week)

     

     

    The Part-Time Director of Routesetting will be critical in maintaining excllelent quality setting at Stone Co. This person will be a leader at the gym, and must exemplify the Stone Co. values of Courage, Responsibility, Others, and Proactivity. This role is focused on expertise and leadership as related to setting at Stone Co., while administration and management will be delegated to others.

     

    Roles & Responsibilities

    Setting & Equipment:

    Review and uphold the Stone Co. methodology, or adjust this with CEO approval if needed. Lead in setting excellent problems weekly. Check the quality, diversity, and accuracy of the rest of the setting team. Overall be responsible for upholding consistent and excellent setting at Stone Co. Take setting to the next level at Stone Co., as needs present themselves from the community.

     

    Leadership & Development:

    Recruit, hire, teach and train the setting team weekly, investing into their skills and passion for the role. Ensure efficiency and quality of their work. Instill values of creating equal/equitable products for climbers of all ages and sizes to climb. Maintain a healthy and open platform for setters to provide any type of feedback for the entirety of the gym. Maintain grading culture within the gym. Ensure safety protocols are followed for every set. Plan team development activities during weekly sets as possible; bring in guest setters where needed. Build an incredible team that is immensely talented and excitingly united – build upon the excellent culture already established.

     

    Alongside these main responsibilities, other goals may be brought onto your role through upper management.
