    Website Shift Climbing

Shift is looking to make a change in the climbing industry. We’re not trying to do the same thing everyone else is doing because we have a unique love for climbing, and we have an equal, if not greater, love for creating one of a kind, life changing places for really great people to work! This starts with our company culture, and we see you (the team) as the most important part of the business!

What is a Shift Hospitality Guide?

Shift Hospitality Guides (HGs) are cornerstones of the Shift experience. We seek to set a new industry standard for hospitality, care, and support for our community. Our HGs will be expected to be intimately familiar with all of the products and experiences we offer including the climbs on our walls (routesetting), instruction, events, retail, and more.

We won’t expect you to learn this on your own – with a great level of frequency, collaboration and support, all of our staff will work together to share knowledge of processes, experiences, and results so that everyone’s knowledge is elevated. This may look like forerunning with routesetters every week, frequent team meetings, participation in classes, or team outings. We expect our customers’ experience to be elevated so we, in turn, will work hard to ensure that our staffs’ experiences are elevated and their journeys are very well supported.

Every one of our employees will wear the HG “hat”, but they may have other “focuses” as well such as routesetting, programming, content creation, or events. This posting is for an exclusively HG position. If you have skills that may benefit Shift’s mission and goals in other ways, we’d love to hear about them or also have you apply for one of our dual roles! We are interested in entry level folks as well as those who may be ready to manage a hospitality team.

Unlike “front desk” jobs at other gyms, we expect our Hospitality Guides to have intimate knowledge of the climbs on our walls and how they relate to our customers’ journeys so that they can help guide our guests and members whenever needed. Shift will support this endeavor through training, education, collaboration, and involvement in many aspects of the business including routesetting, instructions, and events.
    • HG’s will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and upkeep of the facility as well as collaborating with other Shift employees on ways to improve the experience in our gym.
    • Manage all front desk and cafe operations during their time at work – ensuring every member and guest receives the information and service they need that will allow them to make a decision that best suits their needs.
