Hours: Full-Time, 40 hours/week
Pay Rate: $20–$25/hour, depending on experience
Position Description
The Assistant Manager is responsible for ensuring members and guests have the best possible climbing experience at RocVentures. They serve as the liaison between the climbing community, management team, and front-of-house staff. Essential skills for this position include exceptional customer service, the ability to inspire, motivate, and manage staff, create a positive work environment, stay well-organized both in the office and at the front desk, and make critical decisions in the moment. This position reports directly to the General Manager and Owners.
Core Responsibilities
- Represent RocVentures and foster positive relationships within the community.
- Support staff management, including hiring, training, and supervision.
- Maintain a flexible schedule, including availability on evenings and weekends.
- Assist the General Manager in researching and implementing continuous improvements to enhance the facility and customer experience.
- Oversee various operational areas such as memberships, retail, youth programs, group events, coaching, safety procedures, emergency protocols, and facility policies.
- Ensure cleanliness and organization throughout the facility.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Area Responsibilities
- Assist with front-of-house operations, including communications, bookings, facility upkeep, and retail inventory.
- Help organize events and partnerships by researching, planning, coordinating with management, and executing ideas.
- Lead program development and oversight for both youth and adult programs. This includes creating program guidelines, managing staff, and proposing new offerings.
- Support facility maintenance, including regular inspections of the premises and equipment.

Preferred Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in recreation, business, or a related field (equivalent experience considered).
- At least 1 year of work experience in a climbing gym.
- Extensive knowledge of and active engagement in the climbing community.
- Passion for rock climbing and/or outdoor activities.
- Proficiency with Rock Gym Pro, MS Office, and Google Suite.
