Experienced Route Setter

As a casual Route Setter at Pulse Climbing, you will play a crucial role in designing and setting climbing routes that challenge and inspire our diverse community of climbers. You will work closely with our team of route setters to create innovative and engaging routes that promote skill development and enhance the overall climbing experience. Your creativity, attention to detail, and passion for climbing will be instrumental in maintaining our reputation as a premier climbing destination.

We are looking for an experienced female route setter to increase diversity in our team (Anti-Discrimination NSW approved exemption).

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with the route setting team to design and set climbing routes for various skill levels and styles.
• Utilise your knowledge of climbing techniques and movement to create routes that are both challenging and enjoyable for all body types, ages, genders and abilities of our diverse community.
• Conduct regular inspections and adjustments to ensure route safety and quality standards are met.
• Stay informed about industry trends and innovations to continuously improve our route setting processes.
• Engage with climbers and gather feedback to inform future route setting decisions.
• Assist in the organisation and execution of climbing competitions and events.

Requirements:

• Route setters require a strong passion for climbing and a deep understanding of climbing movement and techniques.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Ability to lift heavy objects and work at heights safely.
  Attention to detail and a commitment to upholding safety standards.
• At least 1 year of route-setting experience.
• Female.

Hours will vary based on the requirements of the gym. Additional route-setting shifts at our other locations (Newcastle and Maitland) are a possibility, as is progression to a Head Setter role. Depending on your skills and interests, coaching and/or floor shifts may also be available.
