    Position: Marketing Director

    Hours: Full-time, primarily in-person, with occasional evenings and weekends required for special promotional events.

    Compensation: $75k – $90k annual salary commensurate with experience, comprehensive health and vision coverage for you and your family, 401(k) with employer matching, paid vacation, and more.

    About Portland Rock Gym:

    Since 1987, Portland Rock Gym has been dedicated to teaching and training rock climbing indoors while celebrating and preserving our local cliffs and boulders. As a privately held, direct-to-consumer service, we are experiencing rapid growth with the upcoming completion of our full-service Beaverton location, set to be one of the largest climbing facilities in the nation. By November 2024, our total space will expand to 85,000 square feet across two locations.

    Role Overview:

    We are seeking a strategic and innovative Director of Marketing to lead our marketing efforts, enhance customer engagement, and drive growth as we expand into our second location. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in leadership, digital marketing, brand management, and customer acquisition. A passion for rock climbing and a creative approach to marketing are essential for success in this role.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Lead a creative team in developing marketing materials for various platforms, including social media, advertising campaigns, email marketing, events, and in-house signage.
    • Manage and optimize all social media channels, online business listings, and review sites to drive engagement.
    • Analyze marketing trends to proactively create campaigns that connect with target audiences and elevate the Portland Rock Gym brand.
    • Oversee website updates and maintenance, including content creation and coordination with third-party services and contractors.
    • Represent Portland Rock Gym at key promotional events to build industry partnerships and strengthen community relations.
    • Plan and manage paid advertising campaigns across multiple channels.
    • Maintain a shared calendar for events, content, and marketing activities, ensuring alignment with Portland Rock Gym’s file organization.
    • Collaborate with leadership and department heads to achieve business objectives.

    Qualifications:

    • Passion for rock climbing. Familiarity with yoga and fitness. An understanding of the climbing gym industry.
    • 6+ years of experience in personnel management and team leadership.
    • 4+ years of marketing experience with a strong track record in developing and executing successful brand strategies.
    • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Premiere Pro).
    • Expertise in digital marketing, including experience with Google Ads, G Suite, Google Business Manager, Meta Ads, and email marketing tools.
    • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable strategies.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of working collaboratively and independently.
    • Experience managing marketing budgets and delivering measurable results.
    • Willingness to travel between locations for events and marketing-related tasks.
    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects with attention to detail.
    • Availability to work in-person, with occasional evenings and weekends.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience in direct-to-consumer marketing.
    • Experience with non-digital advertising, including print, radio, and direct mail.
    • Background in communications, graphic design, sports photography, or sports videography.
    • A bachelor’s degree in a related field.
    • Familiarity with Google Analytics and SEO tools.
