    JOB SUMMARY

    A Developmental Competitive Team Coach serves as a main point of contact for our competitive youth athletes (ages 8-17) operating at a highly competitive level, and as such must be goal-oriented, able to multitask, innovative, possess good time management skills, and be passionate about helping coaches and young climbers achieve their expression of success. They partner with the Youth Team Manager and Coaches to plan and execute programming that results in transformative experiences for youth athletes and teach life skills through the sport of climbing.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Monitor energy levels and support transformative experiences for athletes while ensuring team activities promote our core values.

    • Demonstrate empathy and compassion to develop meaningful relationships with coaches and athletes.

    • Work with Youth Team Manager and Team Coaches to follow the season schedule and deliver the daily instruction for this level of team including Comps, Events, Training Plans etc.

    • Coach at practices of this level of team, and weekend competitions as needed based on athlete attendance.

    • Provide supervision for youth climbers who will be bouldering, lead climbing, and belaying.

    • Assist Team Coach Supervisors with administrative duties for this team level, including monitoring team rosters, tracking belay training, organizing practice notes, and communicating with parents.

    • Effectively communicate any issues or concerns with coaching staff and the management team.

    • Collaborate with Youth Team Manager to facilitate mentorship opportunities and personal development for their team level.

    • “Culture Keeper” for their team level and ensure team activities promote our core values.

    • Work with Head Coach to build season schedule for this level of team including parent meetings, competitions, training camps, and events.

    • Coach at all practices of this level of team and attend all extra-curricular events and competitions.

    • Provide supervision for youth climbers who will be bouldering, lead climbing, and belaying.

     

    JOB REQUIREMENTS

    • Strong coach personality, and ability to be the “heart” of that team level.
    • Ability to coach complex climbing subject matter to younger athletes in the age range of 8-12 years old.
      Embody Movement Core Values and the desired culture of our youth team.
    • Display a passion for developing youth athletes and climbing coaches.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with athletes, coaches, parents, and gym leadership.
    • Knowledge and experience in climbing instruction commensurate with the team level being coached, strong climbing and training background.
    • Experience with USA Climbing competitions, route setting, and/or competitive climbing is preferred but not required.
    • Ability to climb V5 or 5.12+ is preferred but not required.

    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

    • This is a part time position.

    • Pay Range is $18.50- $21.50 based on coaching experience.

    • Scheduled shift times may vary from week to week or month to month.
