Youth Teams Coach

This is a part-time hourly position with the option to supplement with additional work if desired.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Recreational Teams Coach to join our coaching staff. You’ll play a key role in fostering a positive and engaging atmosphere where young climbers can explore the sport and develop their skills. 

Pay Scale: $18 – $21/hour depending on experience

Schedule

• Recreational Team 1 (ages 6 – 9) Monday and Friday from 3:45 – 5:30 pm
• Climbing Club (ages 6 – 12) Sunday from 4:15 – 7:30 pm
• Additional hours available if interested

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of climbing experience with top roping and bouldering
• At least 1 year of coaching experience, preferably in rock climbing
• Experience writing and leading practices
• Strong understanding of beginner to intermediate climbing techniques and movement skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with athletes, coaches, parents, and gym leadership.
• Excellent group management skills

Preferred

• Basic knowledge of RGP
• Safe Sport Certification
• First Aid/CPR Certification

Job Responsibilities

• Supervise and facilitate practices for Climbing Clubs and Recreational Teams as directed by the Head Coach
• Collaborate with the entire coaching staff to provide the best possible experience to all athletes
• Provide relevant, actionable, and timely  feedback to athletes
• Communicate the purpose of drills and activities to athletes
• Maintain participant motivation and enthusiasm
• Actively seek out, accept, and implement feedback from superiors
• Use appropriate channels to communicate program effectiveness and progress
• Follow and enforce all gym rules and risk management policies
• Act as ambassador for the sport of climbing at all times
• Proudly and positively represent youth programming at MetroRock Climbing Centers to the community, answering questions and speaking with parents as needed
