    JOB TITLE: Team ABC Head Coach
    DEPARTMENT: Indoor Programs
    REPORTS TO: Leadership Team + Executive Team
    CLASSIFICATION: Full-Time Hourly (30 hour minimum)

    OVERVIEW:
    Located in Boulder, Colorado, ABC Kids Climbing is a unique climbing facility for kids and the home of Team ABC. Fostering foundational climbing experiences for preschoolers, leading developmental climbing experiences for kids, coaching competitive climbing experiences for athletes and guiding outdoor climbing experiences for families. Sharing unique climbing experiences with kids and families while developing the next generation of youth climbers.

    SUMMARY OF POSITION:
    The Team ABC Head Coach (HC) works closely with the Team ABC Director and the company Leadership Team to lead, mentor, develop and inspire a talented staff of Team ABC Coaches, a robust climbing team of ABC youth athletes and a diverse community of ABC children and families. The Head Coach proactively oversees, organizes, trains, and supports Foundational, Exploratory, and Select team programs, coaches and athletes. This person also instills, upholds, and evolves Team ABC philosophies, principles, and standards while personifying a healthy climbing team and company culture.

    We’re seeking an experienced youth climbing team Head Coach and proven collaborative leader that is on a mission to meaningfully and positively impact the next generation of youth climbing athletes, families, and coaches. Ideal candidate coaching traits include professionalism, knowledge, awareness, curiosity, patience, passion, motivation, organization, empathy, kindness, consideration, thoughtfulness and a fun-loving presence. Comfortable in an individual and group facility setting,
    with coaches, youth athletes, and parents, The Head Coach is committed to delivering a balanced approach to trying hard and having fun. Leading an organized, inclusive, productive and enjoyable training environment for youth athletes, the ideal candidate will guide, nurture, support, and train young climbers and coaches toward camaraderie, performance/goal management, responsible stewardship and a lifelong path of climbing options. Background in coaching all three competitive disciplines of Speed, Lead, and Bouldering.

    Seeking a balanced range of coaching skills including tactical, mental, physical, social, emotional, strength and conditioning, nutrition, data-driven, and research-based climbing IQ.

    QUALIFYING TALENT:

    ● Posses previous experience as a head coach, coach, leader, supervisor, or mentor of a developmental / competitive youth climbing program
    ● Has minimum 5 years of youth climbing coaching experience with a strong personal background in indoor, outdoor, and competition climbing
    ● Illustrates strong organizational, collaborative, relational, interpersonal, time management, and communication skills
    ● Is a confident leader and strong collaborator the ability to lead and mentor a robust and talented coaching staff with support of the Team DIrector
    ● Well organized on the back-end, and improvisational on the front-end
    ● Demonstrates a level of professionalism that is stand-out in our industry
    ● Real-time problem solver handling challenging situations with sound judgment
    ● Assess and educate injury prevention and risks related to indoor and competitive climbing
    ● Background in Strength and Conditioning Training
    ● Effectively ‘read’ and communicate modern climbing movements, skills, and techniques specific to high level competitive climbing
    ● Individual, small, and large group coordination and training experience in a practice and competition setting
    ● Current USAC certification
    ● Passion for sharing experiences and knowledge with coaches and youth athletes
    ● Provides a welcoming and inclusive space for all races, religious beliefs, sexual orientations and identities

    RESPONSIBILITIES:
    ● Lead Team ABC coaches and athletes – assessments, practices, private training sessions, training camps and competitions in accordance with Team ABC coaching philosophies and protocols
    ● Personify and nurture Team ABC culture
    ● Support Team ABC operations, standards and procedures in accordance with ABC, PCA, CWA, SafeSport and USAC guidelines
    ● Optimize, innovate, and implement Team ABC coach and program schedules, curriculums, training plans, and goals
    ● Implement, uphold and evolve youth behavioral code of culture, while administering Team ABC seasonal athlete reviews
    ● Contribute to consistent Team ABC athlete / parent communication
    ● Has a complete understanding of the Team ABC program track – clearly communicating current and future Team ABC program options
    ● Represent the ABC organization as a responsible steward of youth climbing
    ● Research and convey past, present and future industry youth studies / trends related to physical, mental and social health and well being

    REQUIREMENTS:
    ● Excellent leadership, communication, collaboration, and technical coaching skills
    ● Punctual, passionate, and proud of your work with the drive to develop professionally
    ● Strong collaborator eager to lead a robust team program of coaches and athletes
    ● Understanding of digital collaborative platforms including Google Workspace

    ● Flexibility to work weekday evenings along with various weekends, events, and travel
    ● Approachable, enthusiastic and amicable while responsibly and effectively balancing coach, athlete and parent rapport
    ● Knowledge and ability to coach all Team ABC programs
    ● Convey climbing movement, technique and coordination along with strategic, physical, and mental processes
    ● Effectively balance individual and team development on and off the field of play
    ● On a mission to meaningfully and positively impact the next generation of youth climbing coaches, athletes, and families

    PREFERENCES:
    ● First Aid / CPR
    ● Safesport Certification
    ● PCA Training Experience
    ● USAC Certified Coach – Level 1 or 2
    ● Understanding of USAC/IFSC Rules and Regulations
    ● Routesetting experience

    EMPLOYMENT PACKAGE:
    ● Hourly Rate: $27-$29
    ● Health Insurance at 70% company contribution
    ● PSST factored at 1 hour earned for every 30 hours worked
    ● 2 weeks PTO accrued annually
    ● 1 week (30 hours) professional development
