Job Title: Youth Programs Coordinator
Department: Youth Programs
Reports To: General Manager
Hours: 12-24/week Coaching & 6/week Administrative

Compensation: $25-$30/hr, DOE

Job Overview

Session Climbing Gym is looking for a Youth Programs Coordinator to join our team.  The Youth Programs Coordinator is responsible for developing, managing, and overseeing all aspects of competitive and non-competitive youth programming at Session. This includes youth programs and events, climbing teams, summer camps, youth groups, birthday parties, and school partnerships. The coordinator ensures that youth participants develop climbing skills, friendships, confidence, and a growth mindset through structured activities, games, and team-building exercises.

Availability

  • Weeknight and weekend availability required

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in youth instruction, education, or programming
  • Experience developing progressive climbing curricula for beginner and intermediate youth climbers
  • Proficiency in technical climbing skills, including top rope and lead belaying, knot tying, harness use, and rope management
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Reliable and team-oriented
  • Background in leadership

Key Responsibilities

Program Development & Management

  • Develop and implement engaging and innovative youth climbing programs and curricula
  • Oversee and supervise youth program activities to ensure quality and safety
  • Communicate with participants, parents, staff, and instructors to enhance program experience
  • Evaluate program effectiveness and make improvements as needed
  • Personally instruct Youth Clubs, Academies, Camps, or Teams each week

Communication & Collaboration

  • Work with leadership to create and sustain inclusive programs for youth of all backgrounds
  • Conduct regular meetings with staff and participants to assess program effectiveness
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure an optimal experience for all gym users

Safety & Risk Management

  • Ensure participants understand facility rules, risks, and safety protocols
  • Respond to safety incidents and document occurrences per policy
  • Maintain and track youth program equipment
  • Lead incident reporting, safety reviews, emergency scenarios, and policy development

Staff Supervision & Development

  • Hire, train, and schedule youth program staff
  • Conduct staff assessments and evaluations to ensure program quality
  • Facilitate ongoing professional development and training for coaching staff
  • Support team cohesion and maintain a culture of professionalism, inclusivity, and responsibility
