Routesetting, Front Desk, or other position.
OVERVIEW:
Located in Boulder, Colorado, ABC Kids Climbing is a unique climbing facility for kids and the home of Team ABC.
Fostering foundational climbing experiences for preschoolers, leading developmental climbing experiences for kids, coaching competitive climbing experiences for athletes and guiding outdoor climbing experiences for families.
Sharing unique climbing experiences with kids and families while developing the next generation of youth climbers.

SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Team ABC Assistant Head Coach works closely with the Team ABC Select Head Coach and the Leadership Team to lead, support, develop and inspire a robust climbing team of ABC youth athletes and a diverse community of ABC children and families. This person will pro-actively organize, train and support competitive team programs and athletes while fostering a positive and lasting experience for the ABC community. The Assistant Head Coach should demonstrate professionalism and maintain a high coaching standard while contributing to a healthy climbing team and company culture.
We’re seeking an experienced youth climbing coach with a background that includes curiosity, patience, passion, innovation, empathy and knowledge to meaningfully contribute to Team ABC. Comfortable in an individual and group setting, with both children and parents, Team ABC Coaches are committed to delivering a balanced approach to trying hard + having fun. Contributing to an inclusive, productive and enjoyable training environment for youth athletes, the ideal candidate will nurture, support and train young climbers toward camaraderie, performance/goal management, responsible stewardship and a lifelong path of climbing.
The Select Assistant Head Coach will train climbers ages 8 through 18. The Select Track is for motivated climbers who are eager to work hard alongside passionate teammates and coaches!
The Select teams explore competition at the local, regional, and national levels where the focus is on developing world-class athletes and even better humans.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Lead Team ABC coaches and athletes in assessments, seasonal reviews, practices, private training sessions, training camps, community building events, and competitions in accordance with Team ABC coaching philosophies and protocols
● Act as a leader within Team ABC Coaching staff with a focus on competitive programs
● Regularly coach all or most Select track team practices. Additionally, perform regular practice audits and deliver coach and athlete feedback
● Collaborate with and support Foundational and Exploratory Tracks as needed, fostering a strong connection with ABC Kids and Team ABC
● Assist Head Coach with staff and program schedules, curriculums, training plans, goals, and other special projects as needed
● Participate in meetings with the Head Coach, Coaching Staff, Leadership Team, and Head Routesetter as needed
● Communicate with current and future Team ABC athletes and parents in a timely and professional manner
● Promote Team ABC standards and procedures in accordance with ABC, PCA, CWA and USAC guidelines
● Work with Head Coach and collaborate with all coaches to optimize, innovate and implement Team ABC programming
● Administer youth behavioral code of conduct, while administering Team ABC seasonal athlete reviews
● Represent the ABC organization as a responsible steward of youth climbing
QUALIFICATIONS:
● Previous competitive coaching experience
● Excellent leadership, communication, collaboration, and technical coaching skills
● Ability to understand & teach complex climbing movements to climbers of all ages and skill levels
● Flexibility to work weekday evenings and various weekends
● Ability to coordinate individuals, small groups, and large groups in a practice and competition settings
● Well organized and able to navigate complex training offerings with clear and timely communication with athletes, families, and staff
● Able to provide a welcoming and inclusive space for all races, religious beliefs, sexual orientations and identities
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
● Strong understanding of climbing movement
● Bias towards action and attentive, engaged coaching demeanor
● Understanding of USAC/IFSC Rules and Regulations
● Current USAC Level 1 or 2 Coach certification (available upon employment)
● First Aid / CPR (available upon employment)
● Current SafeSport certification (available upon employment)
● Routesetting, Strength & Conditioning or previous competitive climbing experience is a plus
EMPLOYMENT PACKAGE:
● Hourly Rate $18 – $28 (commensurate with experience)
