Position Overview:
The Youth Program Manager (YPM) is responsible for leading and supporting all Youth Programs (YP) and Summer Camps (SC) at Momentum Lehi. This role ensures the success of these programs by educating staff, participants, parents, and the community on YP and SC offerings while actively participating in the operations, maintenance, and growth of these programs.
The YPM reports directly to the Program Director (PD) regarding program content, development, and staff training. Additionally, they work closely with the General Manager (GM) on location-specific details such as class times, marketing, and financial goals.
Roles and Responsibilities
Administration:
- Collaborate with the PD and GM on the direction, growth, and philosophy of the programs.
- Communicate with other Momentum managers to foster program development.
- Provide regular reports on progress, challenges, and program success.
- Maintain clear communication about YP events and updates with Operations staff and department managers.
- Participate in financial meetings to evaluate program performance.
- Manage staff compensation for Youth Program and Summer Camp employees.
- Identify opportunities for program improvement and develop actionable solutions.
Staff Management and Development:
- Lead and manage YP and SC staff to foster a positive environment aligned with Momentum’s vision.
- Oversee recruitment, interviewing, hiring, and training of new YP and SC staff.
- Provide ongoing staff training and performance evaluations.
- Foster a sense of program ownership among coaches and camp staff.
- Attend and present at monthly staff meetings and promote a positive workplace culture.
Customer Service and Community Outreach:
- Engage with participants, parents, and patrons, building meaningful connections.
- Respond to customer feedback in a timely manner.
- Contribute to website and social media content.
- Oversee marketing campaigns and membership acquisition/retention programs.
- Build professional relationships with external organizations in the outdoor industry.
Weekly Responsibilities:
- Maintain a strong presence during Youth Programs to support staff, parents, and participants.
- Manage logistics for scheduling, shift coverage, and communication.
- Address disciplinary issues and safety concerns as they arise.
- Regularly update Key Performance Measures (KPM) to reflect program health.
Hours and Availability:
- Full-time, 40 hours/week
- Minimum of 32 hours on-site; up to 8 hours off-site
- Required presence during Youth Programs (typically weekdays from 3:00-6:30 PM)
Requirements
Experience, Skills, and Certifications:
- 3+ years of climbing experience
- Experience in customer service and/or instruction
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Familiarity with Google products
- Ability to prioritize and adapt to changing workloads
Environment and Physical Demands:
- Work in a loud, high-traffic gym environment
- Ability to climb walls and perform rescues as needed
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly
- Stand and walk on uneven surfaces frequently
- Lead instruction for large groups

- Full-time salary* starting at $53,000+ DOE

*Note: If the proposed increase to the minimum salary threshold is implemented, effective January 1, 2025, this role will be reclassified as hourly non-exempt, with adjusted compensation.
