Routesetter
Summary
Route Setters functions as a member of the route setting team to create enjoyable boulders for climbers of all experience levels. Route Setters are expected to set interesting, thought provoking, and challenging boulders that are not overly restrictive or inhibitive for the climber. Route Setters work individually and as a team to fulfill the goals and assignments of the Head Route Setter or Sr. Route Setter. Route Setters may also be asked to perform general facility maintenance including: wall stripping, hold washing, hold organization, wall maintenance, route tag upkeep and air filter replacement.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Conduct oneself with integrity, honesty, and good character at all times
Efficiently set routes and boulders for all climbing abilities that meet Latitude’s quality standards
Uphold safety standards and best practices as stated in the Latitude Route Setting Manual
Arrive at work on-time, ready to work with a psyched, can do attitude
Attends all scheduled setting meetings
Keep the setters closet(s) clean, tidy and organized
Perform gym maintenance tasks safely and effectively
Be open to interaction, feedback, and constructive criticism from fellow setters and the community
Assist the Head Route Setter with competitions and special events throughout the year
Be a team player
Maintain a positive work environment
Organizational Relationships
Reports directly to the Head Route Setter and fulfills all assignments and tasks assigned by the facility’s Head Route Setter (Senior Route Setter if applicable). Assists and works in conjunction with Front Desk, Coaches, Instructors and Management to support the facility.
