We are seeking an experienced and dynamic General Manager to oversee the launch and ongoing operations of our indoor climbing gym. This role involves building out a talented team, including hiring a Head Route Setter and other key staff and leading the gym to become a hub for the local climbing community. The ideal candidate will have a passion for climbing, strong leadership skills, and a proven ability to drive operational success while maintaining an outstanding member and guest experience.
Key Responsibilities:

Operational Management:

Oversee daily gym operations, ensuring all facilities and equipment are maintained to the highest standards.

Develop and enforce operational policies and safety protocols.

Manage vendor relationships for equipment, supplies, and services.

Team Leadership:

Recruit, hire, train, and manage a diverse team, including front desk staff, coaches, instructors, and a Head Route Setter.

Foster a positive workplace culture that aligns with our values.

Conduct regular staff meetings, performance reviews, and ongoing training.

Customer Experience:

Maintain a strong presence on the gym floor to engage with members and guests.

Handle member inquiries, feedback, and conflict resolution in a professional manner.

Develop and implement strategies to enhance member retention and satisfaction.

Financial Performance:

Create and manage budgets, monitor financial performance, and identify areas for improvement.

Develop and execute marketing initiatives to drive membership growth and event participation.

Track key performance metrics and prepare regular reports for ownership.

Community Engagement:

Organize and promote events such as competitions, clinics, and community nights.

Build partnerships with local businesses, schools, and organizations to increase visibility and community involvement.

Represent the gym in local and industry-related events.

Qualifications:

Proven experience managing a climbing gym, fitness center, or similar facility.

Passion for climbing and familiarity with climbing culture, techniques, and safety standards.

Strong leadership and team management skills.

Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and multitasking abilities.

Financial acumen, including experience with budgeting and reporting.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Proficiency with gym management software and standard office applications.
Preferred Qualifications:

Certification in climbing instruction or gym operations (e.g., CWI, AMGA certification).

First Aid and CPR certified.

Experience in route setting or climbing program development.

Marketing or event planning experience.
